SPPU: Students Union to Protest Against Varsity, Demand Rolls Back Fee Hike

Pune, 9th July 2022: Students Union & Organizations Of Savitribai Phule Pune (SPPU) University announced a protest against Fee Hike on July 11th. An organization requested to Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Pune University to roll back the fee hike of Hostels, Ph.D., & Post Graduation courses.

A Student Journalist & Activists Kamlakar Shete has to organize a protest against Pune University to demand a revoked fee hike, which has increased for post-graduation courses and hostels. Many student unions & organizations requested Pune university to get a fee exemption. But no action taken by varsity regarding this.

The University Of Pune recently Hiked fees for Ph.D. & Other Graduation Courses. Pro-Vice-Chancellor SPPU Said “We have never increased the fees for doctoral students during our education of 10 years. A proposal to increase fees. The proposal to increase the fee was submitted in 2020. Due to Covid, it was decided to apply it from the next batch. Now 2022 batch has arrived. We have received a request regarding the rollback of fees. We will consider it and give a report in 3 days.

Kamlakar Shete said, “Most of the students cannot afford such fees. Most of the students cannot accept it due to lower income in rural areas. Families have been affected financially due to Covid. They are still making recovery in it. Such fee hikes will not be justified in hostel facilities and various courses.”
